If there is one thing social media seems to have brought to the surface of our consciousness is our fascination with cats.

As the original Star Trek’s Hikaru Sulu actor George Takei said of today's social media:
“Social media is like ancient Egypt: writing things on walls and worshiping cats.”

The Graffiti Bridge has been called “Pensacola’s oldest social media site.” People have been “posting,” on it for over a hundred years, and so it is only fitting that this fascination has translated to graffiti tags as well.

Of course, everyone has heard the old wives tale that cats have nine lives. But where did it come from?  What does it mean? According to Quora.com, the legend originated from an old English proverb which states "A cat has nine lives. For three he plays, for three he strays, and for the last three he stays.”

Whether they really have nine lives or not, the fascination is real. And so today, it seems only fitting to celebrate this “Caturday,” with a look at our favorite feline, as we feature one of our best-selling designs and remind Pensacola “Cat lives really do matter.”
