As the first week of 2018 winds down, The Graffiti Bridge is pleased to present our Featured Friday pic for the New Year.

When I was in High School, being called a “dork,” was considered an insult. In fact, I had been known to mutter, “what a dork,” under my breath myself occasionally when I was particularly annoyed with someone’s thoughtless behavior.

But, over the years, I’ve seen the term, as with many others, go from insult, to description, finally be used as a term of endearment.

And so, when I saw this painted on The Graffiti Bridge, I thought it merited appreciation in how the usage of this simple word has taken a complete 180-degree turn.

And so, today, let’s take a moment to appreciate the geeks, the nerds, and the dorks. I believe it was Steve Jobs who once said:

“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

So as the first week of 2018 winds down, The Graffiti Bridge would like to showcase this tag as the example of 2018. Take this opportunity to push the boundaries, expand your horizons and “Think outside the box.”
