What’s up Pensacola. It’s ya boy Tom here. Coming back atcha from Graffiti Bridge.com. Well, today I saw a tag that is near and dear to my heart.
Featured Friday is here again. Yep that’s right ya’ll, it’s time once more to pick a tag to feature this week, and I must say, it was a pretty easy pick.
This week is “Tom the Cat.” You all know Tom. That lovable cartoon tomcat who chased his memorable cohort and best friend Jerry the Mouse around our tv screens, and gave easy laughs to an entire generation.
Originally, these two lovable characters were created by William Hannah and Joseph Barbera as a series of animated shorts in 1940 for MGM Cartoon Studios. During its original run, from 1940 to 1958, Tom and Jerry won 7 Academy Awards for Best Animated Short Films, tying with Walt Disney’s Silly Symphonies as the number one films in its category.
Aside from the obvious sharing of a name, the Tom and Jerry cartoons have a special place in my heart because my long time best friend and wife of nearly 20 years parents are named Tom and Jeri. And no, Jeri is not short for anything.
And so with this Featured Friday, I’d like to give a special shoutout to my inlaws, Tom and Jeri Pomeroy, who live in Crestview Florida. If it weren’t for you I would never have met my lovely bride and learned the meaning of true love.
So, as my father in law Tom joked so many years ago. “Yup, she’s my Jeri. I chased her around town until she finally caught me.”
